A cyclist who was involved in a suspected hit and run in Birmingham has sadly died in hospital.

The 29 year-old was hit by a car on Heath Way in Hodge Hill on Sunday 26th April - the car didn't stop at the scene.

He was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital with critical injuries but has since passed away.

Officers investigating the collision have since recovered a vehicle suspected of being involved which will now be subject to forensic examinations.

But they'd like to speak to people who may have information and who may have seen a black Estate type car which failed to stop at the scene at around 7.45pm, and was last seen driving towards Coleshill Road.

Det Sgt Adam Alcock, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We have specialist officers supporting the man’s family during this very difficult time.

“We’re appealing for people who may have information which can assist us to please get in touch.

“Collisions on the road have devasting consequences and my priority is to get answers for his family. I know from CCTV that there were other cars and witnesses at the location at the time of the collision and I would appeal for those people to make contact with us.”
