Councillor says helping Oldbury stabbing victim will 'stay with him for a long time'

A councillor is speaking out over the impacts of knife crime after helping a teenager who was stabbed in Oldbury.
A 19-year-old man was stabbed Market Street yesterday (July 2) and remains in critical condition today.
West Midlands Police said three people - two 17-year-old boys and an 18-year-old man - have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Councillor for Langley, Tuli Zefi was in the area when the incident happened and says he rushed to help the victim.
"It's something that will stayed with me for a very long time," he said
"Seeing a 19-year-old year old fighting for his life is something that no one should ever have to witness, and in that moment, I did what I hope anyone would do.
"I stayed with him, applied first aid, try to keep him calm, and reassured him that help was on its way, and I also want to acknowledge the other members of the public who stopped without hesitation."
Cllr Zefi continued: "Since then, I haven't stopped thinking about the young man, his family and his friends.
"A as a father myself, my heart goes out to them and I sincerely hope he makes a full recovery - and I hope that one day we reach a point where no family has to go through the fear and heartbreak that so many have experienced yesterday."
Cllr Zefi is calling for people to think before they consider picking up a knife.
He said: "Yesterday reminded me that life can change in seconds.
"My hope is that no other young person, no other parent, or no other family has to experience the pain that knife crime leaves behind."
