A Midlands group is urging us to think of those spending Christmas alone as they prepare for their annual Christmas Eve dinner for the homeless at Birmingham New Street.

The Midland Langar Seva Society have been holding a Christmas Eve meal each year at the train station since 2018.

Sharon Kaur is from the Midland Lanagar Seva Society: "The message is that: we are all one. There is no hierarchy.

"Christmas is a very lonely time for our service users. We just want to do a little bit extra for them at Christmas so that they feel that they are part of society and not on their own," she said.

They have organised a DJ, as well as gifts, alongside the three-course meal.

"The atmosphere is absolutely amazing. It is really nice to see a smile on these people's faces. A lot of them are on their own."

"They just want someone to talk to. Something as little as receiving a Christmas card, it may be the only card they receive."
