A man from Walsall has been jailed after a woman was pinned to the floor and robbed of her car in Cannock.

21-year-old Cameron Worrallo is the second person to be sentenced following the attack in May last year.

Officers say a group of people followed a woman in her 50s into Mill Green nature reserve and pushed her to the ground.

Whilst she was pinned down, the group, who were wearing balaclavas, forced her car keys out of her hand and stole her car.

Worrallo crashed the car into a bush on Pelsall Road in his attempts to escape officers who were following it later that same day.

He tried to run from the car but was caught.

Worrallo pleaded guilty to:

  • robbery
  • theft of motor vehicle
  • driving while disqualified
  • possessing a controlled drug of class B – cannabis
  • and using a motor vehicle on a road without third party insurance

He has been sentenced to three-years-and-seven-months in prison.

Detective Constable Reece Hingley said: “I’m pleased that we’ve been able to build all of the evidence needed to secure the second conviction in this investigation.

“This was a particularly distressing incident for the victim and I can assure local communities in Cannock that we will seek the toughest possible punishment in court for those who think they can get away with these types of crimes.”
