The egg stands over three feet tall and weighs 55 kilograms. Nathan Barnett, general manager, said:

“We got our heads together and decided to build and create the world’s largest Cadbury Mini Egg. It stands just over three feet tall and weighs 55 kilos.”

Donna Pitts, chocolatier at Cadbury with over 30 years’ experience, said the hardest part was scaling up the design:

“The hardest thing was to get the colour right, really. And with the speckles, we really have to make them big enough for the large egg to stand out.”

The egg is made in two halves using white and milk chocolate, fused together, with a solid chocolate inside and a sugar-coated shell on the outside.

Donna told us “With anything, when you’re looking at recipes and you’re scaling up from a mini egg to a mega mini egg, you’ve got to just get those proportions right.”

After display, the chocolate inside will be melted down and reused in Cadbury World’s interactive chocolate-making zone.

The Mega Mini Egg will remain on display throughout the Easter school holidays.
