Jo Reeves, from Cotteridge, Birmingham says she’s been left feeling ‘fobbed off’ after making a complaint to Aldi about finding ‘gross’ hairs in her dip.
Ms Reeves and her partner were tucking into Aldi’s Chicken Caesar Loaded dip, when they found what they believe to be two human hairs, about ‘two inches long.’
After complaining via their website, Ms Reeves received a customer service response delivered by an AI bot.
However, they had failed to remove the AI prompt, which read: ‘In a customer service provider’s tone and point of view, make it short and concise, but don’t overdo it.’
Ms Reeves was shocked by the impersonal tone of the reply.
“It’s really ruffled my feathers,” she said, “I feel like they’re kind of saying: look at her there – she’s making a mountain out of a molehill.
“It’s not good enough.”
Since escalating the complaint, Ms Reeves says she has been offered a £10 compensation voucher from Aldi.
An Aldi spokesperson has said: “We apologise that on this occasion our response to Ms Reeves fell short of our usual high standards.
"We have contacted Ms Reeves directly to apologise and fully resolve her query.”
