Offender placed on sexual offender register for five years
A trainee family solicitor from Birmingham has been jailed after sending explicit messages and an image to one of his female clients.
Mohammed Ahmed, aged 28, of Monk Road, Birmingham, sent the messages to the client after adding her on social media, claiming it was accidental.
The incident, known as cyberflashing, led the woman to report him to the authorities due to concern.
Ahmed admitted to the offence at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on 21st August.
He was sentenced to five months in jail and will be on the sexual offender register for five years.
Police Staff Investigator Katie Evers, from our Public Protection Unit, said: “Ahmed abused his position of trust and sent explicit messages and an image to someone he was supposed to be helping.
“The woman in this case did exactly the right thing and came forward and reported his crimes.
“I want to thank her for her bravery in making the report so we could stop him abusing his position of trust to any other women.
“I hope anyone reading about this case who has been through something similar but not reported it, or knows someone who has, will be reassured that we’ll always treat any report with sensitivity and respect.
“We’ll always investigate every report that’s received and do everything in our power to put offenders before the courts to be dealt with.”
