Birmingham man arrested on suspicion of murder after motorcyclist dies in Berkshire crash

Officers believe there was an earlier incident involving the drivers of both vehicles at the junction with Slough Road and London Road

Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit has launched a murder investigation following a fatal road traffic collision in Datchet.

Officers were called by South Central Ambulance Service at around 4.30pm yesterday (16/7) following a crash involving a blue Mini and a motorcycle on Riding Court Road.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 31-year-old man from Langley, was given emergency medical treatment, but sadly died at the scene.

A 39-year-old man from Birmingham, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and murder. He remains in police custody at this time.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Alice Broad of Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit, said: “First and foremost, we offer our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the man who died following the collision yesterday.

“Although formal identification has not yet taken place, the man’s family are aware and are being supported by specially trained officers.

“We understand that incidents like this cause concern in the community, but our investigation is moving at a fast pace and we have made an arrest.

“We want to appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or may have dash-cam footage from the Datchet area yesterday afternoon to please contact the force as soon as possible. No matter how insignificant you think the information is, please report it to us so we can establish what has happened.

“We believe there was an earlier incident involving the drivers of both vehicles at the junction with Slough Road and London Road, so would also appeal to anyone who may have witness information or dash-cam footage of this incident to please contact the force.
