Birmingham City Council secures injunction to prevent waste depot blockades
The High Court ruling targets disruptive actions at waste facilities
Birmingham City Council has obtained a High Court injunction aimed at preventing blockades and obstructions at its waste depots.
The judgment was delivered yesterday following a hearing on the 13th February, in response to ongoing disruptions.
The terms of the injunction specifically prohibit protestors from entering, occupying, or blocking access to four key sites in Birmingham.
Any breach of the injunction could lead to imprisonment for up to two years, fines, or asset seizure for contempt of court.
The bitter dispute has been continuing for more than a year with Unite the union citing the use of "fire and rehire" contracts.
Birmingham City Council has emphasized the importance for protestors to familiarize themselves with the injunction's terms to avoid legal consequences.
