Two 16-year-olds arrested after knife robbery in Smethwick

Police investigating assault and theft in Victoria Park

Two teenagers have been arrested following a robbery in Smethwick's Victoria Park.

The incident occurred at around 5.20pm on 4th August when a boy was assaulted and sustained a knife wound to the head. His mobile phone was stolen in the attack.

Officers later recovered the stolen phone along with a quantity of cannabis and nitrous oxide.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of cannabis, while another 16-year-old was arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of nitrous oxide.

Both individuals are currently in custody for further questioning.

In efforts to combat robbery, local authorities have launched Operation Ruby, focused on tackling such crimes across the region.
