Students at Solihull College and University Centre say they feel apprenticeships gave them direction when education left them feeling lost about their future.
With this week being National Apprenticeship week, the College is highlighting their apprenticeships which are for anyone aged 16 and above.
What apprenticeships can I do in Solihull?
Nadia Davies is the Director of Business Development at Solihull College and University Centre.
She helps businesses identify their skills gaps, which she then fills with apprentices.
Nadia told us what courses they offer: "We have loads of opportunities from hairdressing to content creation, accounting, civil engineering, construction and engineering."
She said that apprenticeships allow people from a range of backgrounds to create their own success:
"It is really important for young people in particular to realise what their strengths are and how they can turn these strengths into their unique contributions to society," she said.
"I left college with no idea what I was doing still"
Georgia Townsend, 20, is studying Content Creation at Solihull Moors Football Club.
She makes content for the Women's team which gets posted on their social media profile. She said the experience has helped her to decide on her future:
"I left college with no idea what I was doing still. I knew I wanted to do something creative and with photography, but I didn't know how to go about doing that.
"It has developed me a lot personally as well as through work. It has given me a lot of confidence," she said.
