Man dies after electric scooter collision in Bournemouth town centre

The incident happened at around 1.55am on 5th January 2026 on Old Christchurch Road, opposite Popworld nightclub

A man in his 20s who was seriously injured in a collision involving an electric scooter in Bournemouth town centre has died.

Dorset Police were called to the incident at around 1.55am on 5th January 2026 on Old Christchurch Road, opposite Popworld nightclub.

The rider of the electric scooter was taken to hospital but passed away due to his injuries yesterday afternoon (January 12).

Police say his family has been informed.

The pillion passenger, a man in his 30s, sustained minor injuries in the collision.

Sergeant Mike Burt, from Dorset Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Team, said:

“Our thoughts are very much with the family and loved ones of the young man who sadly died following this incident.

“We are continuing to conduct enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision, and I would urge any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to please make contact with us.”
