A man has been jailed for more than eight years after attacking two people in Bournemouth.

At around 7pm on 24th February 2025 police were called to reports of a stabbing in Richmond Hill.

A woman aged in her 30s was assaulted by 22-year-old Maksims Pilko, of Bournemouth, who spat in her face and punched her, causing her to fall.

The woman’s partner, also aged in his 30s, intervened but was repeatedly stabbed in the torso by Pilko.

He was taken to hospital where he received treatment to nine stab wounds.

Pilko, a Latvian national, sustained a stab wound to his thigh during the altercation.

He was found by officers close to the scene with a silver flick knife nearby.

Pilko was charged and pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of a knife, and assault by beating.

He was sentenced at Winchester Crown Court today (January 8 2026) to eight years and one month in prison, with an extended licence period of four additional years.

Detective Constable Lizzie Christie from BCP CID said: “The violent actions of Maksims Pilko, repeatedly stabbing his male victim in the street, could easily have fatal consequence.

“Thanks to the swift response of officers on the night, and the thorough investigation by detectives that followed, we have now been able to bring him to justice for his dangerous offending.

“I also want to thank the victims in this case for their support throughout the investigation and court process.

“We remain committed to tackling knife crime through a range of education and public engagement as well as robust enforcement action.

“We will relentlessly strive to remove knives from our streets and pursue those who choose to carry and use them.”
