Permission has been given for a pet cremator on a farmland site north of Dorchester.

Dorset Council has agree the application for Underhill Farm, Corscombe, including the installation of solar panels on the roof of a barn.

Papers with the application suggest that the building, of 22 square metres, will need one full-time staff member to operate the cremator, taking in up to eight pets a day.

It will be sited to the south of an existing pet mortuary with a 3.6metres chimney.

The site already also offers pet burials.

Access to the site will be from the farm access track which joins the public highway on Hackney Lane leading on to the A356 Dorchester to Crewkerne road.
