The government is investing almost £1.6m in improving facilities at Bournemouth and Poole College as part of a national funding package to support further education.

The extra funding has been welcomed by Bournemouth West MP Jessica Toale who recognises the important role Bournemouth and Poole College plays in supporting young people to gain the skills they need for the future.

Jessica said: "Having met with students and the College principal, I know how much this investment means for Bournemouth and Poole College.

"Ensuring students have access to modern, high-quality facilities is vital in helping them gain the skills they need for their future careers."

This funding is part of a £302 million Government investment in further education colleges across England, designed to strengthen the skills pipeline, support local businesses, and grow the economy.

It forms part of the £6.7 billion capital allocation announced in the Autumn Budget, demonstrating the Government's commitment to improving further education and ensuring colleges are fit for the future.

Phil Sayles, Principal at Bournemouth and Poole College said: “Through securing significant government funding over the past three years, our college is hugely enhancing the facilities our students learn in. This further commitment from government will help us further and is gratefully received.”

Bournemouth and Poole College, which has campuses in Lansdowne and in Poole, will get to choose how it spends the funds. It supports 10,000 students to learn and train in a range of areas from apprenticeships and foundation courses through to degrees.
