People are being asked for their help to prevent the spread of bird flu - after a case was confirmed at Longham Lakes in Ferndown.

Visitors are being asked to keep to the footpath, with dogs on leads - and to not pick up or touch dead or sick wild birds.

In an update, the Longham Lakes and Christchurch Harbour team said: "Avian flu update:

"We have had one confirmed case of avian flu at Longham Lakes. Please help prevent its spread:

  • Keep to the footpath, with dogs on leads
  • Do not pick up or touch dead or sick wild birds
  • Do not touch wild bird feathers or surfaces contaminated with wild bird droppings

"Report dead wild birds to our team or online."
