Trans power couple - Jake and Hannah Graf - are calling the release of their first children's book, "The Silly Frilly Dress," a way of making them 'feel a little less alone'.

The story encourages children to embrace their individuality and identity, offering positive reinforcement for those who feel different or unique, with the pair saying how the book serves as a beacon of hope and understanding, especially for youngsters who might feel alienated by traditional gender norms.

The book - released just ahead of Pride Month - touches upon themes such as gender non-conformity and personal expression, and harks back to the pair's personal experiences, both of them having grown up as transgender, and in a world that felt unreceptive to differences.

Speaking to Hits Radio Pride, Jake told us how the hope is that future generations feel more accepted.

The actor, screenwriter, director, and activist said: "I'm a trans man, and when I was little, I knew from a very young age that I felt like a boy, and I knew I absolutely did not want to wear a dress.

"This was back in the '80s and '90s, and back then, there wasn't a lot of information around about trans people - and people didn't really understand what it truly meant.

"My mum and dad just thought I was their little girl who was being difficult.

"So, this book is for all the little trans boys, just like I was, but also for any little girl out there who just doesn't want to wear a dress.

"There are so many out there - many more than there are trans boys - and those little girls should be allowed to wear and be exactly who they want to be."

And Jake has just one message to share - and one lesson for us all to take away from it all.

He added: "Let's just try and remember that we are all diverse.

"That's just natural, as a human race.

"We should be stiving for a world of inclusion, kindness, and acceptance - that's where we need to be - not trying to polarise and segregate.

"Let's all just think about the world we want all of our kids to grow up in - and let's aim towards that, where they feel simply safe and accepted."
