Special listening party held in Liverpool ahead of Sir Paul McCartney album
The exclusive event saw the iconic Jacaranda Coffee Bar temporarily renamed the 'Maccaranda'
The Jacaranda Coffee Bar in Liverpool hosted a special listening party for Paul McCartney’s new album, "The Boys Of Dungeon Lane," last night, one week before its official release.
The exclusive event saw the iconic venue temporarily renamed the 'Maccaranda,' in tribute to McCartney.
Fans who attended were treated to a sneak peek of the album, which delves into McCartney's life before his time with The Beatles.
For the occasion, McCartney received official support in the form of unique repackaged editions of the album on black and pink vinyl.
Each vinyl came with a replica 1960 Jacaranda Club membership card, providing fans with a slice of authentic nostalgia.
The Album and Its Origins
Scheduled for release on 29th May, "The Boys Of Dungeon Lane" marks McCartney's 20th solo studio album.
Co-produced with Andrew Watt since 2021, it was announced on 26th March 2026 alongside its lead single, "Days We Left Behind."
The album's title refers to a lyric from the song "In Liverpool," reflecting McCartney's childhood memories in the Speke area of Liverpool.
Dungeon Lane, a road in this area, serves as a significant inspiration for the album, which also includes a duet with Ringo Starr titled "Home to Us."
Musicians Celebrate Liverpool Roots
In keeping with the Liverpool theme, album artwork designed by McCartney's nephew Josh features the distinctive Speke postcode L24 and is inspired by local street signs.
Prior to the album's announcement, McCartney intrigued fans with subtle teasers using bird emojis on his social media.
The listening session gave fans not only with an exclusive preview but also with a reminder of how deeply ingrained the city of Liverpool is within McCartney's music and personal history.
