Pitbull fans set world record for bald cap gathering at BST Hyde
Tens of thousands dressed in Pitbull's signature style
Pitbull fans have set the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people wearing bald caps during the rapper's headline show at BST Hyde Park in London.
Known as Mr Worldwide, Pitbull has inspired a global trend of concertgoers dressing in his signature style, which includes suits, sunglasses, and bald caps.
Ahead of his performance, tens of thousands gathered by the main stage to be counted. The record was confirmed at 22,141 bald cap wearers, something Pitbull described as a "blessing" and an "honour".
Pitbull, whose real name is Armando Christian Perez, highlighted the significance of this achievement during a press briefing, expressing gratitude towards his fans, whom he playfully referred to as "the baldies".
The idea for the record attempt originated from BBC Radio 1 Breakfast presenter Greg James and content creator Jack Remmington. Remmington suggested the record be attempted at BST, with James helping to involve Pitbull.
Concertgoers dressed in full Pitbull attire described the experience as "sweaty and bald" but "amazing", despite the sweltering 32C heat.
Reflecting on their participation, fans praised Pitbull as "an inspiration" and admired how he brings "such good vibes".
Pitbull performed a selection of his hits including Fireball and Give Me Everything, along with Latin classics and Oasis’ Wonderwall, which he described as "honour" to perform for the festival's record-breaking crowd.
His fellow performers, Kesha and Lil Jon, joined him on stage for collaborative tracks. Kesha, also wearing a bald cap, praised their song Timber as life-changing.
Pitbull has built a successful career since debuting in the Latin hip hop scene, eventually transitioning into pop music with hit singles like I Know You Want Me and Hotel Room Service. He has collaborated with stars like Christina Aguilera and Shakira, selling more than 25 million albums worldwide.
As the festival continued, Pass Out star Tinie Tempah stunned the crowd, noting the appeal of artists like Pitbull who evoke nostalgia by "harking back to a more simple time in the world".
Tempah reflected on music’s ability to create enduring memories, saying, "Whether it's graduating from school, going to your first Fresher's rave, meeting your partner, I think that's always what resonates with me about music."
