Amelia became unwell during a Girls’ Academy game against Fulham at the club’s Training Centre in Horspath yesterday afternoon.

Despite the efforts of medical staff and emergency services, she sadly passed away.

In a statement, the club said it was “with immense sadness” that they confirmed Amelia’s death, and offered their “thoughts and sincere condolences” to her family, friends, teammates and coaches.

Oxford United also expressed their gratitude to those who tried to help at the scene, saying they wished to place on record their appreciation for the medical staff from both Oxford United and Fulham Football Club, as well as the emergency services.

The club says support will be made available to Amelia’s family, along with players, coaches and staff affected by the tragedy.

They have also asked that the family’s privacy is respected at what they describe as an “incredibly difficult time.”
