Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a man in his 30s died following an incident in Lambeth.

Police were called to an address on Poynders Road, SW4, at around 8.35am on Friday, 4 September, after being alerted by the London Fire Brigade.

Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service, where they found a man suffering from serious head injuries. Despite efforts by emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man's family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who is overseeing the investigation, said:

"This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the victim's family and loved ones as they come to terms with their loss.

"We are working hard to establish exactly what happened and a team of detectives is progressing a number of enquiries at pace.

"At this stage, we believe this was an isolated incident and there is no evidence to suggest any wider risk to the public.

"I would urge anyone who was in the area, or who may have seen or heard anything unusual, to come forward and speak to us. Even the smallest piece of information could prove vital in helping us understand the circumstances surrounding this man's death.

"We understand this news will cause concern within the local community and residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as our investigation continues.”

No arrests have been made so far.

A crime scene remains in place on Poynders Road while detectives continue their enquiries. Police are expected to maintain an increased presence in the area as they work to establish the circumstances surrounding the man's death.

Anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed something suspicious is being urged to come forward.
