Manchester City have beaten fellow Premier League rivals Arsenal to win the EFL Cup.

The game finished 2-0 at Wembley Stadium after 90 minutes, with both goals coming from Nico O'Reilly.

It was the first time in the history of the competition that the final was played between the top two teams in the Premier League standings.

Manchester City got past Huddersfield Town, Swansea City, Brentford and Newcastle to reach the final.

While The Gunners have beaten Port Vale, Brighton and Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and Chelsea to make it to the last two.

Going into the game:

Arsenal sit top of the Premier League and have a nine point lead over Manchester City.

You'd have to back to December the 6th 2025 for the last time Mikel Arteta's men have lost a competitive game in any competition.

Arsenal have lifted this trophy twice. You'd have to go back to the 1992/3 season for they won it last.

Arsenal haven't won a major trophy since 2020. But they've made 52 appearances here and Mikel Arteta is yet to be beaten at the 'New Wembley'.

Man City have won this trophy eight times, in total. They last won it in the 2020/1 season

Pep Guardiola are recently unbeaten in the Premier League and all domestic cups heading into this. But they have lost twice in the Champions League to Real Madrid, this month.

The Cityzens have been to the 'New Wembley' over 30 times, under three different managers.

What's next?

Arsenal next face Southampton and Manchester City has Liverpool.

Both of these fixtures are quarter-finals in the FA Cup.
