Flights were briefly stopped at Manchester Airport this morning (Friday 15 August), following a small collision between two EasyJet planes.

The aircraft "clipped" wings on a runway at around 06:30, with operations paused for a few minutes so safety inspections could take place.

Pictures posted on social media revealed damage to the wings of the aircraft, with one reportedly left with a broken tip.

Manchester Airport said flights in and out have since resumed, although warned passengers there may still be a slight delay.

An easyJet spokesperson said: "EasyJet can confirm that the wing tips of two aircraft came into contact whilst taxiing to the runway at Manchester Airport this morning.

"The aircraft returned to stand to disembark customers who have been provided with refreshment vouchers whilst replacement aircraft are arranged to operate the flights.

"We apologise to customers for the delay to their flights.

"The safety of our passengers and crew is our highest priority."
