Five people have been charged with murder following the death of a 23-year-old man at a petrol station in Seaham, County Durham.

Daniel Ambler was killed at the Asda Express service station at around 4.50pm on Thursday.

Durham Constabulary confirmed Barry Anderson, 51, Ashton Anderson, 19, and Barry Logan Anderson, 18, were charged with murder and violent disorder.

Two 17-year-olds also face the same charges but cannot be named for legal reasons due to their age.

All five are due to appear before Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Investigation and reassurance

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Woollett from Durham Constabulary described the incident as isolated.

"While there will be an increased police presence as the investigation continues, I can reassure the community of Seaham that we believe this was an isolated incident, and we have no information to suggest any wider risk to the public," Woollett said.

Tribute from family

Daniel's family shared a heartfelt tribute, remembering him as a much-loved son and brother.

"Daniel was a much-loved son and brother, and his death will leave a huge hole in our hearts forever," his family said.

"He had a great sense of humour, was popular among friends, and was able to bring laughter to any situation.

"Our family is devastated, but we will remember Daniel for being the kind-hearted soul that he was."

Police appeal for information

The force urged anyone with information or dashcam footage related to the incident to come forward.
