Andrew and Tristan Tate arrested in the US related to UK charges
Brothers face 59 charges including rape and trafficking
Andrew Tate, 39, and Tristan Tate, 38, have been detained following their arrest on 18th July in Miami.
The arrests were made by the US Marshal Service in response to allegations dating back to 2012, with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorising charges after receiving evidence from Bedfordshire Police.
Charges and Investigation
The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit have cooperated in the investigation. Initially, 21 charges were authorised against the Tate brothers, but CPS decided to bring 38 new charges following further inquiries.
These charges include rape, trafficking for sexual exploitation, assault causing actual bodily harm, and offences related to indecent images of a child.
Andrew Tate faces 42 charges while Tristan Tate has 17 charges authorised against him.
Authorities Call for Fair Legal Process
Assistant Chief Constable Karena Thomas emphasised the importance of allowing the legal process to proceed without speculation.
She said that male violence against women and girls will not be tolerated, and authorities will continue to support victims and investigate reports diligently.
Malcolm McHaffie, Head of the Special Crime Division at CPS, stated that the total number of alleged victims in this case has reached seven, with criminal proceedings currently active.
The CPS has requested the extradition of Andrew and Tristan Tate from the US. They now await extradition proceedings to the UK.
