It is the day before Christmas but for some over in Europe, many are actually celebrating the big day today.

Olga Bakumenko is one of them - she is a Ukrainian refugee living in Stokesley and due to the Russian war, she is staying here.

She will be doing a mix of English and Ukrainian Christmas traditions.

She said: "I would love to spend Christmas in Ukraine with the rest of my family, with my closest friends, but now the reality is like this.

"We'll try to follow English traditions because it's very interesting and it's enjoyable. I really like English carols, I just adore them. It's like in tune with my heart and of course we're going to get together with Ukrainians and do some Christmas party with children.

"For Ukraine's tradition All the family's gathering together and we try to cook 12 different dishes for the table. As soon as the first star appears in the sky, you're allowed to start eating. It's a very warm family gathering.

"I'd just like to wish all the people who are listening to have a very Merry Christmas and to spend time together in your family circle."
