Three police officers have been injured in Middlesbrough.

The trio were assaulted as they tried to arrest a man, on suspicion of carrying out suspected drugs activity.

The incident happened around 4:40pm on Wednesday (5th February) as the officers were on patrol in Laycock Park.

Over 110 deals of what they believe to be crack cocaine were seized - alongside £750 in cash.

A subsequent search of an address led officers to recover a machete and drug paraphernalia.

A 28-year-old man has been charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs, possession of criminal property and three counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

The man is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court on Thursday (6th February).
