Teesside University's clearing team on hand to help A Level students

Thousands of students across Teesside are receiving their A Level results today.
Teesside University's reassuring students that there are more options if things don’t go to plan.
The clearing team's on hand to talk through choices, answer questions and help secure a place for September.
Jack Clare, director of student recruitment and marketing, said: "Clearing really is an opportunity to apply directly to universities, whether that's because you've decided now that university is for you, whether you'd slightly missed out on your results and you hadn't got into your choices, or whether you've actually changed your mind on what you want to do.
"It's a really good opportunity to apply directly to universities, to speak directly to staff in admissions teams, but also potentially some academic staff as well, get an idea about different courses that you might be interested in, why you might want to choose a particular university.
"We've got a range of brilliant facilities. We've got a triple TEF gold status in terms of our teaching quality and we've recently won a number of awards including University of the Year. So there's a real opportunity to find out about the right course, the right university and really speak to someone who can reassure you and guide you through the process.
"If you're not sure sort of what you might want to do, but you've got an area of interest, it's really worth reaching out to universities, having a conversation about what options are available to you. And I think the great advantage is that there's still a lot of places available, there's still a lot of courses that are open and you can start next month.
"It's a great opportunity to choose a course you're interested in, apply after you've got your results and start your course shortly after, so I think sometimes clearing has a perception that it's only for people who haven't done particularly well and that's absolutely not the case. It's really a process where people can apply flexibly and at a time that's best for them.
"Whether you're interested in healthcare, we've got our brand new Bios building. We've got nursing, midwifery, physio and more. We are looking potentially in the coming years to also bring on a medical school programme as well. That's not for this year, but will be something we're looking to bring on in the future.
"It's such a welcoming campus. There's a range of brand new modern facilities tailored for different subject areas. There's also a dedicated student support centre. We also know that people are more likely now than previously to also commute to university and we've got some great transport links."
