A Teesside strongwoman's in Scotland today hoping to qualify to try and become Britain's strongest later this year.

Shauna Moar is competing in the under 82kg category. If she does well, she'll qualify for the British competition.

She said: "I'm a little bit nervous but I'm more excited than anything. It's the first competition of the year. Training's actually gone really well. I'm really pleased with how it's gone and I'm hitting bigger numbers and I'm hitting all of the numbers I need for the competition.

"So my goal is to make it on the top 3 podium. I would absolutely love to win it but I know I'm against some tough competition but top 3 will qualify me for Britain's strongest woman. I'm pretty confident that I'll qualify for Britain's. I'd like to do better than what I did last year at the British finals where I was 4th.

"First time we've got the deadlift and it's 190kg you have to lift it as many times as you can, so the person with the most reps will win that, then we have an overhead press event it's 70kg and the same idea, as many as you can in a minute, that's probably my best event on the day.

"We have a throwing one that's always quite challenging but fun to watch, throwing bags over a four-metre height. We have the yoke carry that's a big 240kg for 20 metres and you have to carry it on your back and then we always finish up with good old Scottish stones. They're pretty heavy starting at 100kg and finishing up with 140 kg."
