A Teesside MP says he has been 'overjoyed' at the reception he's received since taking on the role.
Today marks six months since Labour won the General Election where all but one constituency here turned red.
Chris McDonald is the party's MP for Stockton North and said: "I came to this having worked in the steel industry for the last 20 years so I've got a lot in common with people who live in the local area and have worked in industry. I'm really committed to us getting more industrial investment and good jobs, creating those great opportunities for young people through apprenticeships and so on, so people can get the chance that I got to have a good job in industry and that's really taken off.
"This Government's also published its industrial stategy as well which we'll be consulting over the next few months and that could have a massive impact on Stockton North in terms of jobs. I always knew I'd get stuck into that.
"I've also been able to flag some other issues that are a big concern for people here; there's this issue called 'fleecehold' where people buy a house and then they have to pay high service charges. I raised that issue in Parliament and found that there's lots of people around the country that share my concern as well, so we'll take some action on that and then social housing has come out as a big issue too. We need a bigger supply of social housing.
"I've been really busy. I've been absolutely overjoyed by the reception that I've had from people and I've had a really busy time but it's been fantastic. I'm very much enjoying it."
