It's that time again where thousands of children in Teesside open those envelopes to find out their GCSE results.

Many mental health charities say they're ready to help with advice for pupils AND parents.

Sara Mirsalehi, service manager at Inside Out, a mental health support team in Middlesbrough and Redcar, said: "We want to make sure that the voice of the child is at the centre of the support we offer, so we don't have a one size fits all approach, it's all about where that young person wants to go next, what they need to put in place and what actions they need in order to get to their final destination.

"I suppose what you see from GCSE, they still have time to reflect on what they've done, what they could do differnetly, what they could do betetr or change your approach to their exams when they're at the A Level stage.

"Look after your own wellbeing regardless of the outcome of the exams because there's always opportunities available when you have a clear head then you're focussing on the future.

"Our parents will be anxious about it and I'm sure everyone's waiting for those end results but you have to believe that you've got the marks infront of you so now's about supporting your child to see what they can do better next, be there for your children and young people as that's when they most need you.

"Try to help them with raising their confidence, not everyone is directly aligned, some young people will do things differently and there are lots of different opportunities from apprenticeships or college courses.

"They've got a few years to make sure they can put things in place so be there to support your children and also reach out to services. There are a lot of services out there, including ourselves, who are happy to work with young people to manage their anxiety and make sure they can deal better with exam stress when they're sitting an exam next time."
