We're hearing how Teesside International Airport's 'moving in the right direction' with hopes it'll start turning a more consistent profit in the future.

The site's home to a number of hangars which are rented out to businesses to operate out of and several flights depart and arrive from there too.

Ben Houchen, Mayor of the Tees Valley, said: "It's going from strength to strength. We see Airborne Colours just opening this hangar, there's a new hangar that we're building for them that'll be open before October, we've got Willis Aviation building new hangars and there are more hangars beyond that on the way, so actually the job creation and the industrial development is going extremely well, and that's also great directly for the airport, not just for the businesses on the airport, because they pay rent and they pay income to the airport which helps balance the books for the airport and that gets more trust in the airport which gets more flights.

"We've obviously just announced that Malaga's going all-year round. I'm confident that we're going to get new routes in the coming months, I'm also confident that the airport will start to turn more of a consistent profit over the next year or two. I think it's all moving in the right direction and things are strong, things are good as we expected. It's a pity and a shame that we had Covid right in the middle of when we just bought the airport."
