Tees Valley Unity Festival returns to celebrate diversity and solidarity
Organisers say it's even bigger and better this year
A festival, that was created in the aftermath of last year's riots in Teesside, is set to return this weekend to celebrate diversity.
The event aims to bring people together to explore other cultures and as a sign of solidarity.
Organisers say this year's event promises to be even bigger and better with strong support from local community groups, councils, trade unions, MPs, and local politicians,
The '2025 Tees Valley Unity Festival' takes place on Sunday (13th July) at 12 noon at Dormans Club, Oxford Road, Middlesbrough, TS5 5DT.
Philippa Storey, the Deputy Mayor of Middlesbrough, said: “The Unity Festival is a celebration of communities standing together in solidarity. What could be more important than that after the riots we saw last year? But we all know that that vandalism and hate did not represent the true spirit of Middlesbrough.
"Our diversity is one of our greatest strengths and this event, celebrating the variety of different cultures, faiths and nationalities in our area is a wonderful way to show how we can come together as a town and show how there is so much more that unites us than divides us.”
Gordon Rowntree, Secretary of Dormans Club, said: “We are more than pleased to once again be able to hold this event, given that as a community club this is primarily about uniting the local community and coming together for a day of fun and laughter.
"We would very much like local businesses to advertise and get involved, if possible, donating a prize for the raffle and tombola that will be held at the event. We are also arranging a food bank so any donations of non-perishable goods would also be welcome. Any potential stall holders should contact the club if they wish to set up a stall on the day along with any musicians or artists who could give up 30mins or so of their time.”
The festival will feature:
• Live music and cultural dance performances
• Stalls, local and international food
• Free rides, inflatables, and games for children
• A welcoming, inclusive atmosphere for all
Organisers added: "This is more than just a festival — it’s a statement. Together, we stand against division and celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures that make our region strong.
"Everyone is welcome. Free entry. Family-friendly.
"Let’s come together again — stronger, louder, and prouder than ever."
Any donations of prizes or non-perishable food can be dropped off at the Dormans Club and requests for stalls or volunteers can call the club on 01642 823813.
