A 19-year-old drug dealer has been jailed after admitting to selling cocaine in Thornaby using a drug line.

Mackenzie Briggs was sentenced to 28 months in prison at Teesside Crown Court on Thursday 15th January.

An investigation by the Dedicated Drugs Unit found that Briggs had been using a drug line to sell class A drugs over a period of two months between October and November 2025.

During a search of his home, officers uncovered 26 separate deals of cocaine hidden in a bin in his bedroom, as well as a significant amount of cash.

Briggs was arrested and charged with three offences: possession with intent to supply cocaine, being concerned in the supply of cocaine, and possession of criminal property.

He appeared in court on the 19th November 2025, where he pled guilty to all charges, and he was remanded in custody ahead of sentencing.

Detective Sergeant Owen Collingwood, who worked on the case, said:

“Illegal drugs cause a significant amount of harm and anyone found to be involved in supplying them will be arrested and brought before the courts.

“We will continue to disrupt organised criminality, seize drugs and protect vulnerable people. Whilst we’re always proactive in our approach, information from the public is vital.

“If anyone has any information about drug dealing, please keep reporting it to us.”
