Teenager dies in two-vehicle collision near Blackhall Colliery
Police seek witnesses and dashcam footage from Hesleden Road incident
A 19-year-old man from Hesleden has tragically died following a collision involving two vehicles on Hesleden Road near Blackhall Colliery on the evening of 2nd August.
The incident occurred just before 7:15 pm, involving a Volkswagen Passat and a Citroen C3 traveling in opposite directions.
The young driver of the VW was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three passengers in the VW, two 17-year-old boys and a 17-year-old girl, were taken to hospital as a precaution but have since been discharged.
Additionally, the 22-year-old female driver of the Citroen was hospitalised and has also been discharged.
Durham Constabulary's Serious Collision Investigation Unit closed the road for investigations but it has now reopened.
Officers urge anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage of the vehicles prior to the incident to come forward.
