A man from Stockton has been jailed for more than 15 years after being found on the run in Turkey.
Euan Corbett, 26, from Thornaby, fled the UK in 2020 after he was arrested by North Yorkshire Police over a fatal collision where he left the scene.
He was also being investigated by Cleveland Police for firearms offence, and was due to stand trial when he ran away.
In 2023, while still evading capture, Corbett sent a voice note to an accomplice ordering a gun attack on a home in Liverton Avenue.
A firearm was shot into the living room of the property, but no one was injured.
After an international manhunt, officers found the 26-year-old in Turkey in March this year and brought him back to the UK.
Detective Inspector Matt Hollingsworth, from Cleveland Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “It is unthinkable the lengths he would go to over a relatively small disagreement.
"Even worse is the sheer disregard for what could have happened to anyone inside that property.
“Officers from Cleveland Police and North Yorkshire Police have worked tirelessly and carried out a thorough investigation to ensure that Corbett was located and returned to the UK to face justice for what he has done.
"I am pleased that he is now behind bars for a significant length of time.”
Corbett has been jailed for 15 years and two months.
