Man charged with murder and sexual assault after Stockton stabbing
Cleveland Police appeal for information following Yarm Lane incident
A 49-year-old man has been charged with murder and sexual assault following a stabbing in Stockton.
Emergency services responded to an incident on Yarm Lane at the junction of Lawrence Street, just before 10pm on 1st July.
A 31-year-old man was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough with serious injuries but died shortly after.
Richard Shaw, of Leybourne Terrace, Stockton, has been charged with murder, sexual assault, possession of a knife in a public place, and assaulting an emergency worker.
Shaw has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Teesside Magistrates' Court on 3rd July.
Following the incident, Cleveland Police cordoned off the area including The Best One and Fani Vapes stores, and stationed officers at the scene.
The police are appealing to the public for information to assist in their investigation.
Dashcam, CCTV, doorbell, or mobile phone footage from the time and area of the incident is requested.
