Three teenagers charged with murder after Saltburn man dies in alleyway

A man was found dead after reportedly suffering serious injuries

Three teenagers have been charged with murder after the death of a 30-year-old man in an alleyway in Saltburn.

Ryan Chilvers, Jake Scott, both 19, and 18-year-old Luke Stubbs are accused of murdering Paul Stewart Miller, who died at the scene after sustaining serious injuries.

Stubbs has been further charged with possession of a knife.

Police were called to the alleyway between Dale Street and Arthur Terrace shortly after 8 pm on 6th March following reports of the incident.

Chilvers, from Dale Street, New Marske; Scott, from Birchington Avenue, Eston; and Stubbs, from Clive Road, Eston, have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Teesside Magistrates' Court today, 11th March.

A 37-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has since been released on conditional bail.

Tributes and Police Appeal

Following his death, Paul Miller’s family described him as “the best son in the world” who was “kind,” “funny,” and “would light up any room he walked in.”

They added: “Paul was the best fiancé to his partner, so loving and affectionate and just so beautiful.”

Chief Inspector John Bonner said the incident was believed to be “isolated and targeted” and encouraged anyone with information or footage to contact the police on 101, quoting reference number 042669.

There continues to be a large police presence in the area as investigations are ongoing.
