A man has sustained multiple injuries and remains in hospital

Shortly after 6.30am today (Saturday 15) it was reported that a man had been walking towards Richardson Dees Park from the direction of High View and Prince Road in Wallsend.
He was then approached by two men who assaulted him and proceeded to steal his wallet, laptop, backpack and mobile phone. They then fled the scene before officers arrived.
It's believed the offenders were wearing dark clothing.
The 40-year-old victim sustained an injury to his jaw, leg, arm and shoulder, all of which are consistent with the use of a bladed article.
He currently remains in a stable condition in hospital.
An investigation has been launched and enquiries are ongoing. The police are urging anyone with information, which may locate those involved, to come forward.
