Police are appealing for information following a serious assault on Stockton high street.

It happened at approximately 5.45pm on Friday 25th April, not far from the bus stops.

Officers know the Arriva X66 to Darlington arrived shortly after the incident and would particularly ask anyone on that bus who saw anything to come forward.

The victim, a 58-year-old man, was approached by another unknown man and was knocked to the floor before the assailant left, going towards the Town Hall.

The suspect is described as a white male, around 5’11, of slim build with short mousey brown hair. He was wearing a black hooded showerproof jacket, black denim cargo trousers and black trainers.

Investigating officers are also interested in speaking with anyone who was in the area at the time and anyone who may have seen the incident or captured it on doorbell, dashcam or private CCTV systems.

Please use the 101 number to contact Stockton CID, quoting incident reference 073079.

Alternatively, you can pass information anonymously to Crimestoppers online or phone them on 0800 555 111.
