North Yorkshire Police have heightened patrols after England’s recent game to combat the risks of drink and drug driving.

Despite prior warnings, many individuals continue to endanger themselves and others by getting behind the wheel under the influence.

Since the start of the tournament, authorities have made 119 arrests associated with drink or drug driving across the region.

The police emphasise the importance of planning ahead for those enjoying the football.

Suggestions include arranging a lift, booking a taxi, using public transport, or nominating a sober driver.

PC Jack Dodsworth and the Band 2 team were prepared for early morning patrols, ensuring roads remain safe after last night's match.

Their dedication serves as a reminder that drink and drug driving poses a real threat to lives.

The campaign, reinforced by hashtags like #fatal5 and #roadsafety, aims to protect all road users by discouraging risky behaviour behind the wheel.
