North Yorkshire athlete to compete at the Winter Olympics
The Winter Olympics starts today until the 22nd of February
A North Yorkshire man says he's can't wait to compete in the Bobsleigh at the Winter Olympics.
33 year-old Axel Brown from North Yorkshire is representing his mum's home country of Trinidad and Tobago.
He said: "Everyone we meet and interact with is just really excited to hear about the story and happy that we're representing Trinidad and Tobago. It's just been overwhelmingly positive.
"Just to be validated by the interest is never something that I sought after or a reason why, but it's of course nice that people care and people want to know more about our story.
"It's just very easy when we're qualifying or racing or whatever to kind of have the blinkers on. We're so focussed on something that you forget that what we're doing actually means something, as daft as that sounds.
"When people are interested and people want to hear our story it kind of shows that what we're doing is bigger than our self interest."
