Middlesbrough techno DJ holding charity event to revitalise industry
Jordan Evans is hoping to bring local independent venues back into the forefront
A DJ from Middlesbrough says he's hoping to revitalise local independent venues to help the music scene across Teesside.
Jordan Evans is organising a charity event called Planet Techno Presents: One Rave, One Run, taking place at The Den in Middlesbrough on Saturday 22nd August from 4pm to midnight.
He said: "There's not a lot in our area really in terms of venues and events that kind of get put on like this so I really wanted to do something local. I've got a lot of friends and DJs that I know in Newcastle, so trying to get some of them people to come into Middlesbrough and just show what our local area has to offer.
"It's going to be a real progressive night; I think when people think of techno, they think of really heavy, hard, pumping music whereas this is going to start off quite light, it's quite bouncy from 4pm and it's going to get progressive, it will get a little bit heavier, but in doing so, it means that there's something for everyone there.
"I would say at these events you usually find for people normally between aged 18 to 30 tops, but I've had people in the 40s get in touch and say this is the first ever event, they've wanted to get back into the scene for a little while now and I think this just gives them an opportunity to do so and I think introducing people back into the scene is brilliant."
It will feature a line-up of local techno DJs, with all profits being donated to Save the Children.
You can find out more about the event here or donate if you can't make it here.
Jordan is also running the Great North Run this year with the funds going to Save The Children.
