Men arrested after attempted thefts from vehicles

Two men have been arrested in the Elm Grove area of Hartlepool after reports of people attempting to gain access to vehicles.

The pair, aged 34 and 41, were detained after a number of incidents were reported in the early hours of this morning (3rd January).

Officers are appealing to anyone in the area who may have footage from around 3:40am to check CCTV cameras.

It is believed that there may have been other suspects who left the scene.

Both men remain in police custody.
