Teesside MP's plans for 2026
We've been asking Jonathan Brash about his outlook for this year
The MP for Hartlepool has been telling us some of his big focusses for the next 12-months.
Jonathan Brash says the last year's been busy and that's going to continue into 2026.
He said: "Well certainly to continue for a fairer deal on council tax, which is the most regressive tax system that we have in this country. We need to get a better deal for towns like Hartlepool and ensuring investments keeps coming.
"Clearly the biggest thing that happened in 2025 in Hartlepool was the incredible that we got over the line for new nuclear, £12 billion of economy value, 2,500 jobs, and powering a million and a half homes. For me, the next step of that is making sure that all of that value, all of those jobs, have maximum benefits for Hartlepool.
"We're working with X-energy and Centrica, the two big investors in that nuclear deal, to make sure that it's Hartlepool people that benefit, it's skills, it's jobs, it's training, and it's education, so that 30 years from now we look back and think 'do you know what? That deal really changed the game for Hartlepool.'"
