Great North Run advice for Teesside runners with two more sleeps to go
The annual biggest half marathon in the world is taking place on Sunday
It is two sleeps to go until many runners here in Teesside participate in the Great North Run.
The annual biggest half marathon in the world is taking place from Newcastle to South Shields.
Rosie Dawson is a director of Wynyard Woodland Park Run in Stockton and said: "Don't eat anything outside of your normal, don't try something different, you don't know how your stomach's going to react, nothing too fatty or spicy, just something quite plain. I'd say on the morning, make sure you have some breakfast before you leave home but also bring something with you to eat before, but again, nothing too crazy, like a banana.
"Check out the weather beforehand because you will bes tanding around, make sure you've got something to keep you warm and make sure that you've got something to keep you cool if it's going to be really hot stood on start line and wear a hat as it does make a big difference.
"One of the biggest tips I'd suggest for the race day is don't go off too fast. It's so easy to get carried along with the crowd because it's such an amazing event and there's so many people around you, so don't go off too fast. If you've got something in the bag at the end then you can go for it then."
