Police are appealing for information after a man in his 80s and his dog were attacked by another dog in Eston on Saturday afternoon (28 March).

The elderly man was walking his dog, which was on a lead, in Barnaby Crescent at around 2pm, when they were attacked by a white Staffordshire terrier.

Another member of the public was also bitten when trying to assist the victim.

The Staffie’s owner fled the scene with a second man who had arrived to remove the dog, with all three departing in a grey vehicle that had pulled up on Jubilee Road.

The elderly victim remains in hospital and is receiving treatment for serious injuries to his hands.

Police are urging the owner of the Staffie to come forward, as well as the man involved in the incident.

Any witnesses or people who withhold information and footage of the incident are also being told to contact police.
