Juggy D announced as Diwali Middlesbrough headliner
Punjabi music star Juggy D has been announced as the headline act for this year’s Diwali celebrations in Middlesbrough. The hitmaker, best known for Dance with You with Jay Sean, will lead a packed line-up when the festival returns to Centre Square on Saturday, October 25th.
Organisers are busy preparing for the fifth annual Diwali in Middlesbrough, promising a night of live music, dance, family fun and a Bollywood-style firework finale. This year’s event, run by the team behind Middlesbrough Mela, is set to be the biggest yet after thousands turned out last year.
Producer Kash Patel says bringing Juggy D to the town follows the excitement generated by Jay Sean’s appearance this summer, describing both artists as icons who have helped shape the Asian music scene in the UK.
Diwali, known as the festival of lights, is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains around the world, marking the victory of good over evil. The Middlesbrough event is free and open to everyone, with no tickets required.
Families can enjoy live performances, street food, children’s activities and a funfair throughout the day. Councillor Philippa Storey says the programme has something for all ages and is a great way to bring the community together.
The celebrations end with a Bollywood-themed fireworks display to light up the evening sky over Centre Square.
