A dispersal order's been put in place in Redcar - from this evening, and lasting for 48 hours.

It's due to reports of antisocial behaviour carried out by young people in the beach area and the High Street.

The order means that any groups can be asked to leave the area for a period of up to 48 hours, and if those people return to the area within that time they can be arrested.

This order is put in place for 48 hours (which is the maximum time that can be applied, although another can be put in place afterwards) to help prevent further incidents and help reassure the local community that action is being taken.

It covers the area of Majuba Road and car park, Newcomen Terrace, The Esplanade, Lord Street, Coatham Road and back to Majuba.

Neighbourhood officers will be patrolling the area regularly and anyone with concerns is encouraged to approach those officers, or call Cleveland Police on 101.
