People in Darlington urged to donate unwanted winter essentials for kids
Darlington Cares say the colder months are approaching
We're hearing about a higher demand for donations of winter essentials to help children in Darlington, as colder months approach.
Darlington Cares say they're once again collecting winter coats, hats, scarves, gloves, wellies, and other stuff for the school uniform exchange.
Last year, more than 12,000 items were distributed to children across Darlington. This year, demand is even higher, and with your support, they hope to help even more families.
You can donate at:
• Uniform Scheme Shop, Feethams car park - Monday - Friday 10am-1pm
• In a Spin Laundry Services, North Road – Monday - Friday 8.30am - 5.30pm, Saturday 8.30am - 12.30pm
• Cockerton Club - donation bin outside the club
• Eastbourne Park Community Hub - during opening hours
• Firthmoor Community Centre – Monday - Friday 9am - 1pm
• Dolphin Centre - during opening hours
Jim Garner, the council’s cabinet member for stronger communities, said: “The uniform exchange provides a great service throughout the year but in the winter months demand rises for items such as warm coats and boots.
“Donating to the uniform exchange stops clothes heading to landfill and helps families across the town kit out their children for free.”
